Corsair Rubber Duck
Details
A pirate captain with a parrot on his shoulder.
Pirates and privateers were active on the seven seas in the 16th and 17th centuries, attacking and plundering ships. They were active in many parts of the world, particularly in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. Most pirates and privateers were sailors who turned to piracy for a living, but there were also professional pirates who specialized in plundering ships. Piracy was a major problem for shipping in the 17th century, leading to wars between European powers vying for control of trade routes. Today, however, pirates and privateers have largely disappeared as shipping is safer and better protected.
